First Major Outing

With all of my previous outings in the Karmann Ghia I have stayed close to home…never really traveling more than about 15 or 20 miles at the most.

Today, I took the opportunity to join up with other Volkswagen owners that were traveling down the coast from Monterey to San Luis Obispo.  I met up with the group just south of Ragged Point and tagged along as they traveled south on Highway 1.  This was about 120 miles round trip.
Taking part in the Central Coast Treffen.  We
stopped for lunch in San Simeon.
While working my way north to meet up with the group, I took the opportunity to capture some pictures of the car and the coast line.  The picture below is at the side of Highway 1 just south of Ragged Point.
The Karmann Ghia performed well.  The car handles well at speed.  The engine ran as expected with the oil temperature never getting much over about 200 degrees.  And I love having a tachometer!
