Update on the brakes…

It turns out that the brake pads and brake shoes were in pretty good shape but now I know exactly when the brake system was rebuilt. I have replaced all of the soft lines, including those from the new brake fluid reservoir to the new master cylinder. The calipers, pads, slave cylinders and shoes are all new.  Even the brake light switches were replaced.

The metal below and behind the master cylinder was in good shape. With everything out of the way I had a chance to clean that area up.

While working on the front brakes I had a good look at the front suspension and things there were relatively fresh. It looks like the steering linkage and steering dampener were replaced not long ago.

Looking around the rear suspension things looked pretty good as well. I did find one of the rear suspension rubber stops was missing but that is an easy part to source.

The shock absorbers look relatively new as well. Originally, when I test drove the car it felt solid so what I found was not that surprising…but it is good to have visual confirmation.

Now it is time to bleed the system and see if the car will actually stop when the brakes are applied.
