My carpet kit from TMI arrived this week. I was hoping for carpeting that felt more substantial but overall the product seems to fit well and it will serve my purpose. So far the installation is going forward without issue.

I am using a spray on glue and it allows some time to get the pieced fitted right. I do find it difficult to get all of the wrinkles out but again, given this is my first attempt at putting in carpet, I am satisfied with the improvement over the carpet that was in the car.
Installing the carpet that is found under the rear jump seat. |
While doing the carpet I cleaned up and re-insulated the heater tubes that are under the rear jump seat and made sure the heater control valves were in good working order. I also sources new face plates for the heater openings that bring heat into the rear area of the passenger compartment.
What looks like the original insulation and wrap was in good shape. With a couple of new zip ties the tubes were insulated. |
The new face plate installed on the heater outlet tube that is under the rear jump seat. |
The carpet piece that fits over the center spine of the floor pan does NOT come precut for the emergency brake and shifter. Cut outs have to also be made for the heater outlets and seat belt bolt holes. For all of these cuts taking your time and triple checking all measurements is critical. Getting these cuts right are critical, especially in areas that are highly visible.
Confirming the cut outs are correct before gluing this piece of the carpet in place. |
