In earlier posts, I shared the work I did on the top side of the floor pan. This week I took some time to clean up the underside as well. With the exception of the small area behind the driver’s seat, the floor pan is in good shape. However, there are some areas where the undercoating has been scraped or flaked off.

After cleaning and degreasing the area I treated this with Eastwood Rubberized Undercoating.

While I had the car up to clean up the floor pan I also changed out the last piece of rubber fuel line…just to make sure all of the fuel lines were new. This is the short piece that goes from the fuel tank to the solid line that takes fuel to the engine. I am glad I did this because I noted that the grommet that protects the solid fuel line as it goes into the center channel was missing. This would be a place where, over time, the solid fuel line could be worn enough to leak. With a new hose and grommet, I think the potential for leaks to develop in the fuel system is minimal.
