Dash Refresh – Part 5

Done!

I received the clock rebuilt into a tachometer from North Hollywood Speedometer.  The result was excellent.  It has the same look as the clock but now reports engine RPM.  The idiot light lens were refreshed and of course the fuel gauge is still in place.  With the stock engine it is not likely I will see the needle get very far to the right!
The new tachometer looks nice in the freshened up dash.
For a 46 year old car, the dash is very presentable and has increased functionality with the tach, oil temperature, oil pressure, voltmeter and a retro style radio with Bluetooth and satellite receivers.  Pretty much everything a driver needs to motor down the road while keeping track of the air cooled engine.
With all of the wiring done and the new tach in place I was able to close put in the new trunk liner.  It really cleans up the appearance of trunk space.  Some might notice I still have the air line from the tire to the washer bottle (the original way Volkswagen pressurized the windshield washer system) but you wil recall that I installed an electric pump power the system.  The air line is just for looks keeping with the theme that this car will continue to appear mostly stock.
