Making it new again…part 2

The engine tins to are back from the powder coating shop. I had the tins coated with 60% gloss black.

Before I put everything back together, I thought I would take care of some other tasks. With the engine out I decided to put in a new clutch and pressure plate. At the same time it makes sense to put in a new clutch cable…although the old cable looked fine when I pulled it out. With the new cable it was also time to put in fresh seals on the Bowden tube.

I painted the intake manifold and inspected the fan to make sure there were no cracks or loose vanes. As I start to put the tins back on the engine I made sure to pack the heat riser covers with insulation (I used heat resistant material designed to wrap mufflers). I purchased new retainer clips for the spark plug cables.

While the engine is out of the way, I cleaned up the wiring coming into the engine compartment from switch on the transaxle that activates the back up lights.

Almost ready to put the engine back in the car!
