Making it new again…inside the engine compartment.

I decided it was time to freshen up the engine tins, clean up the engine compartment and put in new engine compartment seals. While I work through these items I also decided to replace some of the older parts like the oil cooler and the intake manifold boots.

With the tins off, it was a good time to replace the oil cooler and associated seals. Below are the before and after pictures.

The oil cooler looks a little tired and the foam seals needed to keep the air going through the cooler have deteriorated.

While I am working on getting the tins cleaned up and powder coated, I am also working on cleaning up and painting the engine compartment. Earlier I had treated the area under the battery with POR 15 rust encapsulator. Now I am cleaning up the rest of the metal so it can be painted.

I also decided it was time to install new rear transmission mounts. Below you can see the difference between the old mounts and the new ones.

This was also a good time to put in new engine compartment seals.
