With the surface rust worked over with a wire brush and then treated with a rust encapsulator, it was time to paint the floor pan.  The pan floor pan was finished off with a coat of semi-gloss black enamel.

The final step before carpet is to install some sound deadening material. For the floor pan I went with the tarboard insulation available from West Coast Metrics.  They have material that is cut to fit the Karmann Ghia pan. This should help quiet the noise transmitted by the floor pan and will provide a smooth surface to put the carpet down.

The area behind the rear jump seat needed sound deadening treatment as well.  In this case I used a Dynamat knock off that should quiet the car.  This area will also get new carpet so here is hoping I have a quiet ride when this is all done.

Now I just have to wait for the carpet kit to arrive.
